A dark, dense press with a sharp resinous bite in the aroma that announces itself immediately. Earth and green herbs run underneath. The effect is strong and settling and is best kept for the end of the day rather than the middle of it. Warm it briefly before breaking it apart, or it will resist.

Colour comes from the cultivar, from how many times the resin was sieved, and from how long it cured before pressing. Early and light sifts give the blonde presses, later sifts press darker, and curing darkens them further still. Darker is not stronger as a rule, though it usually means a fuller, earthier flavour.
